Dear RCS Middle & High School Families,
We are writing to inform you of our new hall pass system for both buildings for the 2021-2022 school year. We will be moving to digital, contactless hall passes. The new system is called E-hallpass. Students and staff have begun receiving training on the system and training will continue as we phase in through the month of November.
This new system offers many benefits, including freeing up our staff to focus on instruction. It also allows students to schedule appointments with school counselors, social workers, and other teachers within their schedules. This system will replace the bathroom passes, google forms, and sign-in/out sheets that are currently located all around the schools.
Some of the other benefits are that it will:
Limit time away from classroom engagement while waiting for crowded restrooms or for busy staff,
Help students develop self-regulation around the need to leave classrooms with an active view of where and when they have traveled outside of their classes,
Minimize the need to interrupt learning for an entire class,
Provide consistent and transparent pass approval, keeping things fair,
Help prevent students from abusing hall passes, and
Be used in both the MS & HS to allow for easier student transition.
The system is very user-friendly. Students access E-hallpass via any web browser and submit a request to leave the classroom either on a hall pass or for an appointment. The system will allow for easy and consistent communication and scheduling between students and staff.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your student’s building for clarification.
Thank you,
Dr. Lisa Patierne & Denise Capece
