The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School District is happy to welcome Ms. Denise Capece as our new Interim Middle School Principal. Ms.Capece will be covering for Ms. Laura Buzas while she is on medical leave through December 2021. “I have received such a warm welcome. It has been a great start!” Ms. Capece said about her first few weeks at the middle school.
Ms. Capece has over 13 years of building and district-level leadership experience and is excited to hit the ground running at RCS. She has worked in schools throughout the Capital District as both a special education teacher and administrator. These schools have included the Stillwater School District, Capital Region BOCES, Hamilton Fulton Montgomery BOCES, and Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex (WSWHE) BOCES. Originally from Buffalo, Ms. Capece enjoys spending time outside taking care of her garden and playing sports. When she isn’t outside, she loves hanging out with her two children and golden retriever, Zobra.
“Ms. Capece’s knowledge of teaching and learning, combined with her nearly three decades of educational experience, made her an excellent choice to assist us as an interim principal during a busy summer and fall,” superintendent Dr. Brian Bailey said. “We are incredibly pleased to have her.”
When asked about joining the RCS School District, Ms. Capece said, “I am excited for the opportunity to assist the RCS community.” She was in the lobby of the middle school this week welcoming all of our new teachers as they entered for their orientation. She offered the same message to our staff that she would like to share with our students: “Be ready, be excited. It is going to be an awesome year!”
