The RCS Board of Education met with Capital Region BOCES District Superintendent Lauren J Gemmill and Deputy District Superintendent Elizabeth Wood at a Special Board of Education Meeting on Wednesday, January 22, to outline a plan for finding the next superintendent of schools.
The first step in finding the next school leader is to gather community feedback via an online survey and a series of focus groups held over the next month.
The brief, anonymous survey seeks input about what characteristics and skills are desired of the next superintendent. The survey is for all members of the greater school community, including students, parents, staff, and residents. The survey will remain open until February 26, 2025.

Please see the focus group schedule below. Two evening community focus groups are open to all members of the greater RCS community and require an RSVP to ensure access to a virtual meeting link on Feb. 11 and adequate space for the in-person meeting on Feb. 13.

Feedback from the survey and focus groups will inform interview questions and the invitation to apply, slated to go live on or about March 3, 2025.
The RCS Board of Education’s goal is to select and announce the next superintendent in early summer.
