This is a friendly reminder that families who need bus transportation to or from a childcare or alternate location for the 2021-2022 school year are asked to complete a Transportation to Childcare Location Request Form at the beginning of each school year, or as soon as the change is known (see below for more details).
We are in the midst of preparing for the new school year. Although, there are still a lot of unknowns as we await guidance from the New York State Department of Health and Education Departments, we must move forward. With this in mind, please complete this form as though everything were back to “normal.” Meaning, our elementary schools will house grades PK-5, MS = grades 6-8, and HS = grades 9-12, and everyone will be in school for their normal day (9 - 3:30 elementary, 7:30 - 2:40 MS/HS). We are unsure if everything will be back to normal as described above, but we certainly hope that we will be. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
Transportation will be provided to childcare locations for Grades K-8 subject to these guidelines:
For elementary schools, requests for transportation to childcare locations must be within the child’s home school boundary. For example, students from A.W. Becker, can only be transported to a childcare location within A.W. Becker’s boundary.
We have extended our traditional deadline for submission from August 1 to August 10. The Transportation to Childcare Location Request Form must be submitted by August 10th. Late forms cannot be guaranteed transportation for the beginning of the school year.
Based on estimated resource allocation, multiple childcare locations will not be accepted. The pick-up location and drop-off location may be different addresses, but cannot differ from day to day.
Changes in childcare locations will not be accepted from August 15 through the third Monday, September 20.
Forms must be submitted each school year, even if the information is not changed from the previous year.
If the child care location changes during the school year, a new form must be submitted in advance of the change. It may take up to 10 days for the new bus route to take effect.
Please Note: The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and the New York State Education Department (NYSED) have not yet released updated guidance for the reopening of schools for 2021-2022 school year, including updated guidance relating to transportation.
