The Board of Education extends its sincere appreciation to our dedicated staff, faculty, and community members who participated in the superintendent search focus groups and online survey.
We greatly value your input and wanted to share some of the common themes that emerged from your thoughtful conversations and responses. These insights played a key role in shaping the superintendent job posting and will help inform the interview process as we move forward.
A recurring theme that stood out was the strong sense of community that defines RCS. Many participants emphasized our close-knit, supportive environment as one of our greatest strengths. Other frequently mentioned strengths included:
Committed, professional, and student-centered staff.
A small, multigenerational community with strong bonds.
Rich academic and extracurricular opportunities and resources are available to students, which is particularly impressive given the size of our district.
High levels of school spirit and community pride in our athletics, music, and arts programs.
While proud of these strengths, participants also pointed to meaningful areas for improvement, which we take seriously. These include:
Improving communication and engagement with all stakeholders.
Enhancing academic rigor and ensuring equity between the elementary schools.
Fostering a more positive school culture and improving the overall student experience.
Strengthening leadership and ensuring consistent, effective follow-through on district priorities.
Continuing to prioritize school safety and security to promote environments where everyone feels respected, supported, and able to thrive.
Your feedback makes it clear that our next superintendent must be a strong communicator who follows-through on initiatives to turn vision into action; is committed to academic growth; and is passionate about advocating for all our students—ensuring fair access to all of the opportunities we offer.
The application period closed on April 2, and we are now entering the candidate screening and interview phase of the search. Thank you once again to everyone who contributed.
