Monday, October 17 through Friday, October 21, is Board of Education (BOE) Recognition Week. With nearly 700 public school districts in New York State, this week is used to promote awareness and understanding of the important work done by school board members.
The RCS Central School District is joining school districts across the state in celebrating School Board Recognition Week to thank our board members for their commitment to the RCS Central School District and its students, families, and community. The RCS Board of Education consists of nine members, President Edward Reville, Vice-President Kristin Hill-Burns, Edward Bedinotti, Michael Deyo, Bray Engel, Tina Furst-Hotaling, William McFerran, Jennifer Molino, and Peter Ross.
We want to say a huge THANK YOU to our Board of Education members for their dedication to our school community. The Board of Education is an essential part of all school districts in New York. BOE members wear many hats in this unpaid position. They establish school district policies, hire and evaluate the superintendent, and develop our annual budget to align district resources to improve student outcomes while supporting a safe and supportive school culture in which to work and learn. Most importantly, they act as a two-way communication link between residents and the RCS School District. All of these efforts allow for the continuous advancement of our district and community.
The decisions of your elected Board of Education affect your student, their future, your tax rate, and the well-being of your community. Our Board of Education works hard to ensure our community is heard. Families’ participation in such important matters, along with the school district and the community working together, will provide the best possible educational programs for our students throughout their entire time here at RCS. The RCS School District greatly appreciates all work and effort our Board of Education members commit to our district, staff, community, and students. You can find more information about our Board of Education here.
