Beginning this fall, the Food Services programs at RCS CSD will go back to operating as they did prior to March 2020. Breakfast and lunch will be available to all students, however, these meals will not be free for all students in the 2022-23 school year.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and New York State have chosen not to extend the free meal plan for all students into the 2022-2023 school year through the federally assisted meal program, National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Please see below for more details.
The meal prices for the 22-23 school year go as follows:
Elementary Breakfast: $1.65
Elementary Lunch: $2.85
Middle & High School Breakfast: $1.90
Middle & High School Lunch: $3.20
Important Free and Reduced Price Meals Information:
Based on family size and income, your family may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. All information is kept strictly confidential.
If your family meets the income guidelines to be approved for free/reduced price meals at school, you will need to complete the Application for Free/Reduced Price Meals which can be found at the links below. If you receive a letter from the school stating your child has been approved through direct certification this means your child will receive free meals, and that you will NOT need to complete this application. Families should receive these letters by the second week in August. If you think you should have received one, but haven’t, please reach out to our Food Service Director Douglas Porter at dporter@rcscsd.org or by calling (518) 756-5200, ext. 2437. If you need to report an address change, please visit our website here to learn more.

It is important that families who may be eligible for free or reduced price meals fill out the free and reduced price meals application for the 2022-2023 school year. Filling out this form will allow families to access many additional services and support networks they otherwise might not be able to. It will also give our school district and local municipalities valuable information about needed resources.
Find more information about whether your family qualifies for this program here, then download the Free and Reduced Price Meals application online, pick up an application at your child’s school or contact the RCS Food Service Department at (518) 756-5200, ext. 2437. Only one application needs to be submitted per household. You will be notified within 4-5 business days if you qualify for the program.
An application package is mailed home to all parents in late August in the school calendar. Parents are encouraged to submit the completed application to their student’s school or district office before the start of school each year.
Any questions can be directed to Douglas Porter, Food Service Director at dporter@rcscsd.org or by calling (518) 756-5200, ext. 2437.
