Recently, a number of A.W. Becker Elementary families and staff volunteered their time at the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. As part of that community outreach, students, parents, and staff assisted with organizing and packaging healthy food items and goods to be distributed within our region. Students learned the importance of empathy, community, and kindness during their time working hand-in-hand with the food bank staff and volunteers.
“The purpose of volunteering is to allow our students and staff to participate in something meaningful within our greater community,” said A.W. Becker School Counselor Thomas Trainor. “By having our students lend a hand to a community organization, they continue to learn about the importance of giving back to others while reinforcing the district's values with empathy and participation.”
AWB volunteer opportunities have been scheduled monthly. If families would like to participate in future trips to the Regional Food Bank, please reach out to Mr.Trainor at ttrainor@rcscsd.org.
