On Thursday, February 24, a group of 60 community-based volunteers set out to assist local families by providing food resources to eliminate food insecurity in our area. The event, called Community Partnership Mass Food Distribution, was hosted on the MS/HS campus in conjunction with the RCS Teachers Association by the Catholic Charities Mobile Outreach Vehicle Extension (CC MOVE). The first-time event reached 504 households totaling 1,753 residents. A record-breaking amount of 14,653 pounds of food were distributed over the course of the day.
Special recognition goes to community partners at the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany, Capital District Physicians' Health Plan (CDPHP), RCS Teachers Association, Capital District Area Labor Federation, and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.
Thank you to everyone for a successful event aimed at helping our neighbors in the RCS community!
