As CTE month rolls on, we are highlighting the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) program that RCS High School students attend! The month is used to recognize and inform communities of the many opportunities provided by the program.
Did you know that 110 students are currently participating in the Capital Region BOCES culinary program?
One of our students is definitely taking notice and is creating delicious dishes in the process. Meet RCS Senior Gabriel Brown. He is currently building his culinary resume; and perfecting his recipes in the program located on the Career and Technical, Albany Campus.
“I like cooking, and I like making different meals. It’s better than bookwork,” Brown said while cooking up some stew for the program. Brown is interested in pursuing a career in the kitchen upon graduation in June. The hands-on experiential learning offered at CTE is the perfect opportunity to help make that happen.
Located on the Albany and Schoharie campuses, students enrolled in the culinary program are preparing to enter the workforce or pursue additional college training. Graduates have gone on to work in restaurants and resorts around the region and beyond, open their own establishments, and even prepare food for professional sporting events.
Keep up the great work, Gabriel! If you are interested in learning more about this program, visit here.
