Last week, Pieter B. Elementary second grade students used concepts observed and researched through their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) curriculum to design bird houses. The second grade students were able to apply their hands-on instruction to creatively design structures to share with classmates. Students presented their designs and described why their fun-filled concepts would work as a shelter. This fun and creative design project allowed students to think outside the box, while using knowledge developed in the classroom.
