Dear Families,
We anticipate returning to in-person instruction next week. Our RCS Leadership team will be coming together tomorrow to review our current COVID-19 related staffing issues. Families will receive an update no later than 8:00 PM on Saturday ONLY if we will not be returning to in-person instruction on Monday, January 10.
Updates to Department of Health Requirements: There have been some big updates and changes to quarantine and isolation protocols for students and staff, released this afternoon, from the Albany County Department of Health. In order to be able to properly inform our community regarding these changes and answer any questions they may have, we will be sending out our weekly letter early next week.
Please remember that if a student or staff member is sick, they should not come to school/work that day. With so many breakthrough cases, we also advise:
Household members of confirmed COVID-19 cases not come to school/work until they are certain they are not sick or exhibiting symptoms.
Students and staff should stay out of school while awaiting the results of a COVID test. We have had a few positive cases in school where families had a good reason to test their children, but sent them to school the day after the test and prior to getting the results. When these children were found to be positive, but were in school, they potentially infected additional people and caused many other students and/or staff to be quarantined.
RCS submits its COVID-19 case numbers to the New York State Department of Health on any day that RCS has in-person instruction. We also post these numbers on our COVID-19 notification updates page.
Thank you and have a great weekend,
Brian Bailey, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
