On Friday, September 24th, at approximately 8:30 PM, the lights went out on the High School Athletic Field during the Varsity Football game against Hudson Falls. The determination was made that the lights could not safely be restored to continue the game. As a result, the field and spectators were evacuated.
Upon inspection by the district's contracted electrician, they determined that a portion of the control center that runs the lights was not working properly and in its current state was not safe to use and would need to be replaced. To make the repairs, the power has to be shut off by National Grid. District officials are presently working with National Grid to schedule the shutdown as soon as possible. The district's electrician is on standby to repair the problem as soon as we can have the power interrupted.
Our primary goal is to have the lights on as soon as possible. As a backup, we have secured light towers for the next two weeks in the event we need them. The next scheduled nighttime event on the field is October 6th at 7:00 PM. We will provide more information about the restoration of the lights once it becomes available.
