The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School District is happy to welcome Kevin Goodemote as our new Transportation Director. Mr. Goodemote is joining RCS from the Guilderland School District where he was a driver before becoming a 19A Trainer and School Bus Driver Instructor. He has replaced our former RCS Transportation Director, Jennifer Elliott. “I enjoy it. I really do,” said Mr. Goodemote. “It doesn’t feel like work. It's fun to come here!” as he spoke about his first few weeks at RCS. “Everyone I’ve talked to has been awesome.”
Mr. Goodemote, a New York native, has lived all over the Capital District but settled in Berne-Knox 22 years ago with his wife to raise his children. His career in school transportation started like most of them do, as “Bus Driver Kevin.” He has since held other positions, and while being a 19A Trainer and School Bus Driver Instructor, he boasted a 100% pass rate for new bus drivers.
“We are so pleased to have found Mr. Goodemote,” said superintendent Dr. Brian Bailey. “His experience behind the wheel and as a trainer and leader for his colleagues will help serve RCS well. His positive attitude, ambition, and extensive practical knowledge make him the perfect fit for this position.”
“The people,” Mr. Goodemote said when asked what his favorite part of the RCS school district was so far. “The people are so nice. They’re caring. They’re very, very helpful.” He continued by saying, “I am happy to be here. I am happy to help! If they have any questions, they can always call.”
Mr. Goodemote may be contacted directly at kgoodemote@rcscsd.org. Updated transportation information for the 2021-2022 school year will be available for families in the coming weeks.
