Ms. Pulcher has currently taught for 18 years, thirteen of those years coming from within the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk CSD. For the majority of that time, she has worked as a Special Education Teacher in self-contained and co-taught classrooms K-5, with a strong desire to support students with social-emotional needs. During the 2020-21 school year, which is her second year as a reading teacher and Curriculum Content Specialist for ELA and Social Studies, her role may have changed, but it continues to provide her with exciting new challenges in the district.
“I love teaching because I love learning and being a part of others’ learning. My ongoing growth includes achieving National Board Certification, obtaining a second Masters in Literacy, and most recently becoming a Level 1 Google Certified Educator,” said Pulcher. “Teaching is important to me because there is no substitution for the feeling of witnessing a light bulb moment or bits of progress no matter how small, and knowing I had a positive impact on someone’s day.”
She credits her passion for teaching by being an avid reader and bringing the joy of literature to others, whether it’s sharing book recommendations with friends or reading a picture book to a group of children.
“The process of learning how to read is fascinating to me and I am fortunate enough to be a part of that for so many.”
