Virtual Scavenger Hunt Connects Local Businesses With Area Students

Created in partnership with Bethlehem Central School District and Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District, the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce (BCC) Virtual Scavenger Hunt is designed to be a fun and safe way to encourage more than 2,500 students, to explore virtually local businesses and career opportunities while helping participating organizations to grow their brands and introduce themselves to potential new employees and interns!

Students in grades 7-12 in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk and Bethlehem school districts, and at St. Thomas School will complete the scavenger hunt while learning more about their community. This first-ever virtual scavenger hunt is a collaboration between marketing students at BCHS and the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce. It is designed to spark students’ interest in businesses and organizations within their community and to learn about career paths and job opportunities that are available locally.

The students in Zachary Frese’s marketing class at Bethlehem High School developed the website for the scavenger hunt. The website highlights more than two dozen businesses and organizations that are members of the Bethlehem Chamber. Each business “page” highlights the entity’s workforce, skills, and qualifications needed for various careers, internships, volunteer roles, or part-time jobs available to students.

Students at RCS have access to valuable career resources like Graduation Pathways and opportunities coordinated by the High School Counseling Center. RCS Graduation Pathways offers real-world connections to careers and the workplace right at RCS High School. By selecting a pathway, students can gain opportunities for college credit, tuition reductions, and much more— that may give them a competitive edge after graduation. Interested students are encouraged to meet with the Counseling Center to discuss Graduation Pathways and how these options can help shape their future success.
