Today marked the 23rd anniversary of a day that changed the course of history in our country and the world. Throughout the RCS School District, each building took a moment to pause and reflect on the events that took place on September 11, 2001.
At the RCS Middle School, an announcement was read at 8:46 a.m. the moment when the first plane struck the World Trade Center, starting the day of remembrance by Middle School Principal Denise Capece. Throughout the day, teachers incorporated the history of 9/11 into their lessons and shared personal stories about what it was like on that tragic day.
In the afternoon, there was a brief assembly at the 9/11 memorial on the RCS High School and Middle School campus, where taps played while students took a moment of silence.
A quote from the morning announcement: “We are all part of a global community, and it is important that we take these opportunities to recognize and acknowledge the important events that have shaped our world and who we are today as Americans.”
Never forget.
