Dear RCS Families,
Welcome back to a new and exciting school year! As we embark on this journey together, I am filled with enthusiasm and optimism for the incredible opportunities that lie ahead for our students. We have spent the summer prepping and planning for the new year, and we are beyond ready for our students to arrive and thrive!
Our RCS program is built on the pillars of inquiry, collaboration, risk-taking, participation, empathy, and community. These values are interwoven throughout every grade and building and will guide us to a successful and fulfilling year:
â—Ź Inquiry: We encourage students to ask questions, explore new ideas, and foster a love for learning.
â—Ź Collaboration: Working together, we achieve more. Our educators, staff, and families form a strong support network.
â—Ź Risk-taking: We promote stepping out of comfort zones and learning from experiences in a safe environment.
â—Ź Participation: We get students, staff, and families involved in school activities, events, and initiatives to enrich our community.
● Empathy: Understanding and valuing each other’s perspectives creates a compassionate community.
â—Ź Community: We will celebrate our similarities and differences and support one another to make this year successful and memorable.
In addition to the 18 new instructional staff members joining our ranks, we have had some exciting changes in our building leadership. Mr. Steve Doran, our former middle school assistant principal, has been appointed as the new principal of A.W. Becker Elementary. Mr. Brian Garrity will replace Mr. Doran as the middle school's assistant principal. Also, we will begin the school year with an interim assistant principal at the high school. Mr. John Thorson will be with us from September through December as we complete our hiring process for a new high school assistant principal. Read more about Mr. Garrity and Mr. Thorson here.
You will see some changes as you approach and enter each of our buildings this year. By the time school opens next week, A.W. Becker will have a new, long-awaited repaved entry road and each school entrance will show off our new RCS Ravens branding. There will be a lot more to come this year as we continue our construction project and expand our new brand - Go Ravens! Stay connected and up to date throughout the year on our website: https://www.rcscsd.org/ Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together we can ensure a successful and enriching school year for all our students.
Warm regards,
Brian Bailey, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools
