On Wednesday, June 12th, the Albany County Department for Children, Youth, and Families hosted its annual Youth Recognition Awards. RCS Middle School is excited to announce that 8th grader Jacquelyn Cordero has received the Artistic Expression Award. Jacquelyn was presented the award by her art teacher, Mr. Meservey, and principal, Ms. Capece, who were happy to share in the celebration of Jacquelyn receiving this highly competitive award. To be eligible, Jacquelyn showed compelling and innovative skills in the creative arts and exhibited impressive artistic ability in creativity, originality, and technique, as well as using art as a vehicle to impact the community by addressing social issues.
The annual Youth Recognition Awards recognize youth around the county who have overcome adversity, shown tremendous resiliency and growth, athletic achievement, and artistic expression, or demonstrated their citizenship and civic engagement through community service. The awards committee recognizes only one middle school student and one high school student each year for five awards.
Congratulations, Jackie!
