RCS Logo text: Update

As the days count down to an educational milestone for our seniors we want you to be aware of the real-life consequences of a senior prank. Anything that disrupts the educational process, damages school property, or violates Board Policy or the law will result in disciplinary consequences and potential arrest. It may also mean that perpetrators miss out on end-of-year events.

There is a “prank” going around right now called “Senior Assassin.” A game such as this may be fun, but it is also dangerous. There is a very real chance that students who participate in this game could be placing themselves and others at risk through the intended game behavior in and around the RCS community (wearing disguises, acting suspiciously, hiding, lurking, carrying any type of weapon, fake or not). There have been students detained by local police for playing this game in a public location in the Town of Bethlehem. And, as you would imagine, we are in a world that is sensitive to witnessing suspicious and/or violent behaviors. We do not want any of our students to face adult fines, arrest, or injury.

The Albany County Sheriff's Office urges everyone to refrain from pranks and games of this nature inside and outside of school for our students and the community’s safety. If the actions of the participants are perceived to be real threats by a student, staff, neighbor, or community member then the members of law enforcement will be involved. In stressful or high-pressure situations misidentification of a real threat could lead to serious consequences.

We want our students to have a memorable, but safe time as they enter their next chapter in life. If you have any questions or concerns related to this matter, please contact the High School directly.

More information about talking to your child about the possible dangers of playing this “game” can be found here.
