Members of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and their advisors recently attended a Youth Leadership Summit at The Capital Center in Albany. This annual event brings together students across the Capital Region to inspire them to make healthy choices.
The Summit featured representatives from organizations all over the Northeast that work in the fields of mental health, addiction, and suicide prevention. During their time at the Youth Leadership Summit, SADD students had an opportunity to listen to speakers who shared their personal experiences with mental health and recovery. They also visited with exhibitors who shared what their organizations do for teens and adults dealing with mental health and addiction issues.
In some sessions built into the Summit, students participated in interactive activities like mindfulness meditation and NYNG physical challenge. These activities were to share techniques for adapting to social and emotional stress.
