When the 2022-23 school year started, Friday, May 26 was set aside as a contingent day off in the event the district didn't use an emergency closure day.
As school districts are required to provide 180 days of instructional time, many school boards account for possible snow days or other emergencies when creating their academic calendars. And when those days are not used, a contingent day off is used, closing school for the day.
As of Friday, April 28, the district has not used emergency closure days for the 2022-23 school year. Should this scenario continue, school will not be in session on May 26.
And that will create a four-day Memorial Day weekend.
